headquarters of George Weston Limited, this building
was widely published and praised by the architectural
press around the world. It received several international
design awards as a distinctive and responsible solution
to inner-city development.
Wittington Tower and Weston Centre
The tower's octagonal shape minimizes
surface area while its interior layout has a planning
efficiency of over 94 percent. These factors combine
to effect a highly efficient solution. At a time when
maintenance costs for office buildings averaged $4 a
square foot, this building totaled only $2.33.
